Picture Perfect: SENTIMENTAL

Hold back the tears, we're getting all sentimental on PICTURE PERFECT this week. Our host this week is Cherie, who has chosen the theme of 'SENTIMENTAL'.

Back in the 1980's I owned three dogs. Two Afghan hounds (Saga & Tara) and a Collie-cross (Ben). They were all rescue cases, having been mistreated in various ways. Although I loved them all, Saga had a special place in my heart. She was the first one I took in, and I went though a lot of difficult times with her, but also so much fun and laughter. She was the craziest, most neurotic, totally loving dog I've ever known. I've written a post about her, which you can find by clicking on THIS LINK.

Obviously the photo is pre-digital and low quality, but that doesn't matter. I still miss that crazy hound even after all these years.

  1. Awww ... she is beautiful!!! I rather like this shot ... that sepia colour always seems to offer a sort of misty sentiment ....

    1. Thanks Lynne. The funny thing is that Saga and the chair she is lying on are very similar colours, both of which are sort of beige-sepia. The sepia effect is entirely co-incidental, but it works in the way you described :-))

  9. I really enjoyed the story you wrote about her and fully understand the never forgetting. They bring us joy and unconditional love but; they also bring us devastation when they go. She is beautiful.

    1. Hi Shayna. Yes, that's the one awful part about our doggie friends, we always outlive them and have to say goodbye.

  11. I love Afgan hounds (they look like princesses :) )and I liked reading your "dog stories"... I've myself adopted 4 in my life, all Groenendaels, except one a Rough Colley... The one I have now is completely neurotic too! I've always wanted a big black dog as bodyguard... but Gingko is such a coward that I'm the bodyguard!

    1. Thanks Kia. I don't know much about the Groenendael breed, I'm going to have to look it up online. Gingko sounds a bit like one of my other dogs, Ben, was when I first got him, although he lost his fear over time.
