    1. Yes, they look really odd when the flower-stem suddenly shoots up from the ground-hugging plant :-))

    1. Hi Fatos. It's Sempervivum, a ground-hugging alpine plant (see the third shot for how it looks usually). When it flowers, it sends up little stalks on the top of which a group of small flowers open (see the first two shots).

  11. wow..............wonderful, what are those flowers at the top, they are really something. Just realised, are they passion flowers?? What ever they are they make pefect photos.

    1. Hi Loretta. They are Sempervivum flowers, the flowers of the plant in the third photo. The third photo is how the plant looks most of the time. When it flowers, it sends up a tall flower-stalk topped by several of those flowers.
