  2. Extraordinary detail of the bee's wings and head. Love the red of the flower as background too.

  3. I think it is hard to get a shot of a fly like that. Well done.

  6. I really admire your insect shots. getting a decent macro shot of a flower is hard but these insect shots you get are even harder, I just love the detail you get.

    1. Thanks Loretta :-)) Believe me, it takes a lot of patience!! When you've got insects that continually move, sitting on flowers that can also be moving in the breeze, there are some days when I get almost no usable shots. Other days you just get a run of good conditions and the ratio of good shots to bad increases dramatically. The day this one was taken was one of those good days, I got a lot of good shots.

  7. What a cool shot! I wonder if it is the same type of fly as I found this summer. Pretty big and striped http://tradgardssurr.wordpress.com/2013/08/05/fonsterblomflugor-ater-getinglarver/

    1. Thanks Lena:-)) I had a quick look at your photo. No, they are not the same. The insect in my photo is a Honey Bee. I think the creature in your photo may be a Hoverfly.
