NatureFootstep: Blo-Ma #73

Tuesday's theme at NatureFootstep is 'Blo-Ma' (Flower - Macro).

I photographed this odd plant at the National Botanical Gardens, Wales. I have no idea what it is, but I was fascinated by how the little buds were bursting through the thick fibrous white membrane.

  5. It looks vaguely familiar and is very beautifully shot. Is it natural to Wales or a desert plant? Second shot especially lovely.

    1. Thanks Benni :-)) No, it's not indigenous to Wales. I photographed it in the Great Glasshouse, which contains plants from around the world.

  8. nice! They have a fine home page but I could not find any plant list. It would have been nice to see it in full bloom.

    1. Thanks NF :-)) I also checked the NBG home-page but could find no name for it. I go there at least once a year, so hopefully next time I will catch it when it is in full bloom.

  9. I thought these were made from fabrics at first-that white looks like fluffy cotton-very cool
