Beautiful, Mitch !! Now if we can only get the word out that these creatures are endangered and we will face a disaster never known to man before without them!
Thanks Linda :-)) Yes, the die-off of bee populations is alarming in the extreme, and hopefully the scientists will figure it out before too long. However, neither of these little critters are bees!!
I think I like the flowers more than the winged things :) Two awesome close up/macro shots! I don't think I have ever seen a hoverfly before but his big eyes (I think?)definitely give away the fact that he is not a bee.
Thanks Fatos :-)) I had a look on that link......that is really high-end professional macro-photography, using very expensive equipment. Far beyond what I do.
I've meaning to comment on you "If it moves .." statement. It reminds me of when I was in the U.S. Navy and we used to say, "If it moves, salute it. If it doesn't move, paint it."
they are indeed very summery, not sure why but I always think the yellow flowers are the most symbolic of summer. Far more so than the red and pink flowers. And the detail on the bugs is fantastic, especially like the lace detail on the wings.
Bees are amazing creatures alright. Terrific shots.
ReplyDeleteThanks DL :-)) Although neither of these creatures are bees.
DeleteLove the second photo the best-we have all kinds of bees here too
ReplyDeleteThanks Kathy :-)) That second shot, although it looks like a bee, is actually a hoverfly.

Thanks Danette :-)) I like the winged things just as much. They're more of a challenge to shoot than the flowers, anyway!! LOL.

ReplyDeleteThanks Loretta :-)) Probably the yellow flowers are more associated with the colour of the summer sun?
DeleteI am afraid they might bite you! :D
ReplyDeleteSuper captures!
Thanks Sophie :-)) These particular little critters don't bite or sting.
