Moors Valley Park, Dorset

I've spent so much time recently getting the Picture This group's site up and running that I've neglected my own page somewhat. So, time to rectify that and start posting again. Starting with the final set of photos from my trip to the south coast of England at the end of September to visit online friend Baz.

Moors Valley is another of the many beautiful country parks in the area that Baz lives in. It has walking and cycling paths, both in heathland and woodland, along with activity pursuits such as zip-lining and tree-top rope-walks. The day we visited there were several heavy rain storms, had to duck into shelter several times, so some of the shots are not as pin-sharp as I'd like as they were taken in a hurry.  As always I've put up a few of my fave shots and the whole album is available to view in a slideshow at the bottom of the page.

  1. zip-lining and tree-top rope-walks -- I can figure out what tree top rope walks are, but what are zip-lining?

Your photos are beautiful. I bet you are glad to have the photo site up and running.

    1. Thanks Lynda. Yes, very pleased with the new PT site, seems to be running smoothly so far.
Zip-lining is where you are clipped to a rope and slide from a high-level down to ground level over a course of about 100 metres or so.

    1. Thanks Kathy. The oak leaves is probably my fave photo of the set. No, didn't go on the rope-walks or zip-lining, was more interested in walking the paths and photographing.

  4. I understand why those shots are your favourites....It must have not been easy to select which to be included in the slideshow, whose shots do also justice to the beauty of that place... Thanks for sharing!

    1. Thanks Belita. The slideshow itself is easy enough, I just use the entire album. It's choosing the few favourites to highlight that's the hard part!! LOL.

  5. I think it would be lovely to have a companion on picture taking forays. And, if no companion, there is always a chatty bird with a lot to say. Zip-lining intrigues me and maybe I will try it someday - maybe...

    1. It is nice to sometimes have another photographer accompanying you. It's always interesting to see how two people shoot the same things in completely different ways.

  7. We have tree top walks on the nearest mountain where I live, but not my sort of thing. Otherwise that was an enjoyable breakfast I just had accompanied by the beautiful photos of the english countryside. Oh to be in England .... and all that.

  9. What a lovely treat with my lunch, a photo blog from Mitch. Wonderful images, your weather must have improved a bit so you could get out a bit. That last one, Wood Fox is interesting. Love the view from the little pier, lovely, just so lovely. I need to get out and about a bit, getting cabin fever, but cannot leave my little feathered babies, this feeding around the clock is getting me down and the smallest one died on Friday *sigh*

Well back to work says the bossman ..............chat later.

  15. Love it all Mitch. It is great to get lost in another world for a little while.

I must say I have been a bit on the worried side after watching the news lately about your neck of the woods and still a few more days of rain to come. Yikes! What a bloody mess and over such a huge area.

Yes, the weather in the UK has been really bad over the past week or so, lots of flooding and storm damage. I'm lucky in that I live in an area that is not prone to flooding. Still strong winds and rain here for another 24 hours, then it will finally start to ease off.

  16. Great photos Mitch ~ another place I've not visited but it looks like there are we a lot of photo opportunities. I always like looking at other people's photographs as it never ceases to amaze me how we all see things differently.

    1. Thanks Charlie. Yes, Dorset have lots on offer for the walker like yourself, and the photographer. There is, of course, the New Forest, plus several large country parks such as the one featured in this post.
